What are PhD and MPhil research higher degrees?
Doing a RHD at SPH is a process of development. Candidates acquire particular skills and knowledge while making progress towards completing their research project and writing their thesis.
Candidates are required to undertake an original and significant research project. Programs offered are Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), 80,000 word thesis, 3 years of full-time OR Master of Philosophy (Mphil), 40,000 word thesis, 1½ years of full time study.
Each RHD student will work with a supervisor to develop an individual study program to suit their needs. This study program will help them develop the attributes outlined in the Statement of Research Higher Degree Graduate Attributes and complete a high-quality assessable thesis in a timely manner.
Candidature progression and development milestones provide a structured process to help students achieve the goals outlined in their study program. The three milestones for a research degree are:
- Confirmation

due 24-30 months EFTC for a PhD and 12-15 months EFTC for a MPhil candidate - Thesis Review
