Research areas and staff

The School boasts a strong research profile with a number of research centres based within the School. It offers both the Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), and attracts a large number of Australian and international students to its research higher degree and coursework programmes. Currently, about 100 students are enrolled in the research higher degrees on a full- or part-time basis.

This site is useful if you are an intending research student seeking a supervisor or would like to contact an academic staff member regarding their research expertise.

Core population health methodologies & specialised research groups

The School has strengths in the major research methodologies underlying contemporary population health research and related specialised applications.  We also have research units with expertise across a range of population health issues, considering these from several perspectives relevant to effective public health action, strengthening the science base for policy: determinants and context of risk behaviours, development and evaluation of population interventions, cost-effectiveness of interventions, priority setting, and other policy and service related research.

Research Strengths and priority areas

Below is a brief list of keywords and the staff who specialise and conduct research in these areas. Click on the names of staff to access our Academic Staff Profiles database and obtain a more detailed outline of their interests and expertise, and contact information.  Many of the keywords will include staff across a range of sub-specialities.

If you cannot find your area of interest below, please email Enquiries@sph.uq.edu.au  and we will put you in touch with the relevant expert.
