Social Sciences
The Discipline of Social Science Research includes Dr Jon Adams and Dr Lisa Fitzgerald. The Discipline, which holds a number of NHMRC and other nationally competitive research grants, conducts research into:
- Health services research
- Qualitative research methods and mixed-methods design
- Complementary, alternative and integrative medicine
- Primary health care
- Sexual health
- Women’s health
- Dementia and ageing
- Occupational violence
- Other workplace issues in health care.
The Discipline of Social Sciences co-ordinates and/or teaches several courses within the School including:
- PUBH7620: Social Perspectives in Population Health
- PUBH7003 Qualitative Research Methods in Health
- PUBH7610 Applied Research and Practice
- PUBH7021 Evaluation in Public Health
The Discipline also plays an active role in the academic training of research students. Staff members supervise or co-supervise several PhD and Master of Public Health students.
