Cooperative Research Centre for Aboriginal Health
The Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for Aboriginal Health is a virtual organisation established in 2003. It brings together the Aboriginal health sector, government health agencies and research institutions to ensure that research conducted into Aboriginal health:
- is driven by priorities set by Aboriginal people themselves;
- is of practical use and transferred expeditiously in an accessible form to the Aboriginal health sector; and
- results in the development of research capacity within the Aboriginal community itself.
The CRC for Aboriginal Health has 12 core partners, of which The University of Queensland is one. Each CRC for Aboriginal Health partner appoints a Link Person to liaise between the CRC for Aboriginal Health and the organisation they represent. Link People for UQ are Professor Richard Taylor and Megan Williams from the School of Population Health. The CRC for Aboriginal Health is governed by an Aboriginal-majority board with representation from all its core partners; the UQ representative is Professor Alan Lopez, Head of School of Population Health.
