The Epidemiology and Biostatistics disciplinary group comprises three components:

  • Epidemiology and Biostatistics
  • Clinical Epidemiology Unit
  • Queensland Clinical Trials and Biostatistics Centre

The Epidemiology and Biostatistics group coordinates the Master of Epidemiology and Master of Epidemiology (Clinical Epidemiology) programs and is responsible for teaching core epidemiology and biostatistics teaching across the postgraduate programs, as well as offering elective courses in these disciplinary areas. It is also responsible for epidemiology and biostatistics teaching in the MBBS Program and the Bachelor of Health Sciences program.

The group has an active research program across a range of applications of epidemiology and biostatistics as well as methodological issues. Applications include cancer epidemiology, infectious diseases, evidence-based health care, life course epidemiology, obesity, air pollution, clinical epidemiology and clinical trials. Methodological issues include design and analysis of longitudinal studies.

The QCTBC (link) supports and researches the design, conduct and analysis of clinical trials, and provides biostatistics consulting.
